Via San Martino, Capestrano

The cluster is in the Tirino valley between the Gran Sasso massif to the north and the Sirente range to the west, with mountain scenery visible at short range. The Tirino river runs through this area, and Capestrano is part of the Tirino valley known for very clear spring-fed water. The area lies within the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park. Calascio and the Rocca Calascio ridge are within this radius on the Navelli side of the high ground. The nearest substantial town is L’Aquila, which provides the main concentration of services, while Ofena and the villages of the Navelli and Tirino valleys are the immediate local centres. This part of inland Abruzzo is known for fortified hill villages, pastoral uplands, and saffron around the Navelli plain.
