The cluster lies in the plain around Nola, with Vesuvius visible to the southwest and the first ridges of the Apennine foothills inland to the east. The Regi Lagni canal network and intensively farmed flat land shape much of the immediate surroundings. Nola is the nearest town of size and has a substantial historic center, services, and the Early Christian Basilica complex of Cimitile beside the town. Mount Vesuvius National Park is farther away beyond the built plain, so it does not define the immediate landscape here. The area is known for the Nola plain, long-settled agricultural land, and the religious and historical importance of the basilicas at Cimitile.
