The coast of the Golfo di Patti is nearby, with long urban and semi-urban beaches around Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Milazzo and Oliveri. The small lakes of Marinello and the Tindari headland are within about 15 km to the west, inside the protected area of the Laghetti di Marinello oriented nature reserve. Milazzo is the nearest substantial town in daily life, with a large historic citadel on the promontory, port services and ferry links to the Aeolian Islands. Tindari is known for the hilltop sanctuary and Greek-Roman archaeological area. The wider area is known for citrus cultivation on the plain and for the coast facing the Aeolian Islands.
