Via Gioia, Santeramo in Colle

The area sits on the Murge plateau, with open limestone countryside, cereal fields, pasture and patches of oak woodland typical of the Alta Murgia. Alta Murgia National Park lies partly within daily surroundings to the north-west, and the landscape around the town is part of the wider karst plateau of sinkholes, dry valleys and rocky ground. Matera is the nearest major historic city, with the Sassi and full services, at roughly 25 km. The area is known for grain farming, livestock and the bread and meat traditions of the Murgia interior.
