Sovramonte sits in the foothills of the Venetian Prealps (Prealpi Bellunesi / Alpi Feltrine). The Cansiglio plateau and Foresta del Cansiglio lie within roughly 15 km and form a karst plateau with extensive beech woods. The Piave river runs through the valley below; the nearby town of Feltre sits on the Piave. Feltre (about 20,000 inhabitants) is the nearest town of size, approximately 10–15 km away, with a railway station on the Calalzo–Padova line, supermarkets and a historic town centre including the Duomo di Feltre. The location is south of the main Dolomite massifs; the major Dolomite lift-served ski areas are generally more than 30 km by road.
