Bonea sits on the western side of the Benevento province in the Caudina valley, under the limestone slopes of the Taburno-Camposauro massif. The Taburno-Camposauro Regional Park lies within this area and shapes the immediate landscape with wooded mountain sides above cultivated valley land. Montesarchio is the nearest town of size and has everyday services and a substantial historic centre around the castle hill. Benevento is the nearest small city for wider services, rail links and major shopping. This part of the province is known for vineyards, olive groves and inland Campanian hill country.
