Within about 15 km are wooded ridges and limestone gorges of the eastern Umbrian-Marche Apennines, with the Gola della Rossa e di Frasassi Regional Natural Park nearby. The Frasassi karst area and caves are in this radius, on the Sentino side of the park. Fabriano itself is the nearest town of size and has a substantial historic centre and civic museums; it is known nationally for paper-making. The nearest ski lifts are on Monte Catria and Monte Cucco, roughly an hour's drive, so they do not define the immediate landscape.
