Via Roà Piana, Montaldo di Mondovì

The Ligurian Alps and the first Maritime Alps are the mountain backdrop here, with the upper Monregalese hills and valleys rising south of Mondovì. The Ellero valley and the Corsaglia valley are within this area, and the Tanaro basin is nearby. The Alta Val Tanaro and the Marguareis area lie to the south, with the Marguareis Natural Park within broader reach of this part of the province. The nearest substantial town is Mondovì, which has a large historic upper town, services, schools and rail links. This area is known for mixed hill farming, woodland, and the transition from Piedmont hill country toward the Ligurian Alpine valleys.
