This is the eastern Ferrara plain, a flat reclaimed landscape of fields, drainage canals and scattered settlements in the Po Delta area. The Po di Volano runs through the area, and the Valli di Comacchio wetlands are nearby within the wider lowland landscape. Part of the Po Delta Regional Park lies in this sector of the province. Ferrara is the nearest city of size, with a large historic centre and UNESCO status linked to the city and the Po Delta cultural landscape. The area is known for reclaimed wetlands, fishing valleys and lowland agriculture.
