This is inland Ciociaria, in the middle Liri valley and its low hills, with a mainly agricultural landscape of fields, olive groves and scattered settlements. The Monti Ernici rise nearby to the north and northeast, and the Monti Ausoni and Aurunci are farther off to the south. The Liri and Sacco river system shapes the wider plain around the area. Frosinone is the nearest town of size, with the main range of services and rail connections, and Sora is another nearby centre in the upper Liri valley. The area is known broadly for Ciociaria countryside and for wine and olive growing rather than for a single standout protected landscape within the immediate radius.
