Via Santa Maria Salome, Castelliri

The cluster is in the middle Liri valley, with the Monti Ernici close by to the north and east and the first inland ridges of the Lazio-Abruzzo Apennines shaping the horizon. The Liri river system is the main water feature of this part of Ciociaria, with cultivated valley floor and hill settlements around it. Monte San Giovanni Campano is known for its hilltop historic centre and the Castello Ducale linked to the imprisonment of Thomas Aquinas. Sora is the nearest town of size, with rail links, services and a larger commercial centre for the valley. The area is known for the historic hill towns of Ciociaria and for olive groves and mixed farming.
