Via Cicone, Tiglieto

The cluster is in the Ligurian Apennines, in the upper valley of the Orba river, with wooded slopes and ridgelines on all sides. The Parco naturale regionale del Beigua lies within reach to the south and east, covering the nearest mountain mass between the inland valleys and the Ligurian coast. The nearest ski area is at Prato Nevoso and other Cuneo resorts, well over an hour away, so there are no local lifts in the immediate landscape. Ovada is the nearest town of size, with everyday services and rail connections; Acqui Terme is another larger centre within practical reach. Tiglieto is known for the Badia di Santa Maria alla Croce, a medieval abbey in the Orba valley, and for chestnut woods and inland Apennine walking country.
