Santo Stefano d’ Aveto: Suggestivo rustico in pietra

The Ligurian Apennines are the immediate landscape here, with wooded ridges and upper-valley terrain around the headwaters of the Nure valley. The Nure river runs through Ferriere and the surrounding settlements. This is in the provincial mountains toward the passes linking Piacenza with Liguria, and much of the area is known for chestnut woods, pasture and scattered stone hamlets. The nearest town of size is Piacenza, which provides the main rail connections, services and historic city centre. The area is known locally for hiking, mushroom collecting and the upper Val Nure mountain landscape.
