Casale in Santo Stefano d'Aveto

The cluster sits in the Ligurian Apennines at the foot of Monte Maggiorasca and Monte Bue, in the Aveto valley. The Aveto river runs through this area. Much of the surrounding landscape falls within the Aveto Regional Natural Park. The nearest ski lifts are at Rocca d’Aveto on Monte Bue, a short drive from the village. Santo Stefano d’Aveto itself is the main service centre in the upper valley, with a small historic core and the remains of the Malaspina castle. The area is known for high Apennine pastures and woods, mushrooms, and the Santo Stefano d’Aveto summer pasture cheese.
