The cluster is in the Ligurian Apennines on the divide between the Polcevera side and the Scrivia side. The upper Polcevera valley and the passes around Passo dei Giovi shape the immediate area. The Parco Naturale Regionale dell’Antola lies nearby to the north-east, with Monte Antola as the main summit of this part of inland Genoa. Genoa is the nearest city of size and provides the full range of services, major rail connections and the port. This inland strip of the province is known for Apennine valley landscapes, chestnut woods and the historic route crossings between Genoa and the Po plain.
