Seggiano sits on the southwestern slopes of Monte Amiata, a volcanic cone whose summit reaches about 1,738 m. Within ~15 km the landscape is dominated by the wooded slopes of Monte Amiata, with chestnut and beech forests and mixed woodland. Lower slopes and small valleys around the village are worked as olive groves and small-scale agriculture. The area is known locally for the Olivastra Seggianese olive and for local olive‑oil production. The Monte Amiata ski area with small, seasonal lifts is on the mountain above the settlements. Nearest towns of size within the mountain area include Arcidosso and Santa Fiora, which supply shops and basic services; Castel del Piano is also nearby.
