Rustico in Ceriana

The Maritime Alps rise immediately inland, with steep olive-covered valleys and ridges above the Argentina valley. The Argentina river runs down to Taggia and the Ligurian coast. The nearest substantial town is Sanremo, which provides full services, a rail station, a marina and the main commercial centre of this part of western Liguria. The old hill villages of the Sanremo hinterland, including Ceriana, are known for olive cultivation and for dense medieval settlement patterns on narrow ridgelines above the coast.
