The Mediterranean coast is about 2 km away, with the built-up Riviera strip running through Vallecrosia, Bordighera and Ventimiglia. The River Nervia flows through the area. Ventimiglia is the nearest larger town and has a rail station, services and the old hill town above the modern centre. Bordighera is the other nearby coastal town with beaches and a long seafront. The French border at Menton is a short drive to the west. The area is known for the western Ligurian flower-growing belt and for olive cultivation in the inland valleys.
