This cluster is in the built-up area of Crotone, so the resident setting is urban streets and the coastal plain rather than open landscape. The Ionian coast is nearby, with the Capo Colonna headland and shoreline south of the city. The protected marine area of Capo Rizzuto lies along this coast. Crotone is the nearest town of size and has the province’s main services, port, seafront, and historic core. The area is known for its Ionian coastline and for the archaeological remains at Capo Colonna from the ancient Greek city of Kroton.
