Biassono is in the Brianza area on the Lombardy plain at the edge of the low moraine hills of Brianza. The Parco di Monza (the royal park, roughly 688 hectares) and the Autodromo Nazionale Monza racetrack lie within a few kilometres. The Lambro river runs nearby and the Parco della Valle del Lambro (regional park) covers parts of the local river valley. The locality is part of the suburban/industrial belt between Monza and Milan with contiguous towns such as Monza, Lissone and Seregno. Monza (population around 120,000) is the nearest city of size and provides railway connections to Milan, hospital services and the Villa Reale and Duomo. The local economy and landscape are shaped by Brianza’s small industry and furniture/artisanal businesses rather than tourism. Milan is the metropolitan centre about 15–20 km to the southwest and the region’s airports (Linate, Malpensa) are in the wider area.
