Incantevole Casello di Montagna a Era Alpe Cetra

The Grigne massif (Gruppo delle Grigne), including Grignone (Grigna Settentrionale) and Grignetta (Grigna Meridionale), rises immediately east of Mandello del Lario and provides marked mountain trails and refuges in its slopes. Mandello sits on the eastern shore of Lake Como (Lago di Como) and has a small harbour with regular ferry/boat connections to other lakeside towns. The Sentiero del Viandante long-distance footpath runs along the eastern shore and passes close to Mandello. The nearest significant urban centre is Lecco, about 10–12 km to the south by road, with a train station on the Milan–Lecco line, a provincial hospital and larger shops and services. Bellano is a few kilometres to the north on the same shore and Varenna is opposite Mandello with a mainline railway stop. The town hosts the Moto Guzzi factory and the Museo Moto Guzzi. The nearest developed downhill ski area for lifts is the Valsassina / Piani di Bobbio zone (Barzio), typically a 30–45 minute drive depending on traffic.
