Casa San Bartolo

The cluster lies in the lower Salento peninsula, with a flat to gently undulating karst landscape of olive groves and dry-stone walls. The Adriatic coast is close at Marina di Novaglie and the Ionian side is also nearby, so daily life is tied to a narrow peninsula between two seas. The Ciolo inlet near Gagliano del Capo is within the area, with a limestone coastal ravine and cliffs on the Adriatic. Santa Maria di Leuca, at the end of the peninsula, is the nearest larger coastal centre, with a port and year-round services. Alessano is in an area known for Salento rural landscapes, olive cultivation and coastal watchtowers.
