The Meduna river and the artificial Lago di Redona are within the area, and Lago di Selva lies just to the north near Tramonti di Sopra. Much of the surrounding terrain falls inside the Parco Naturale delle Dolomiti Friulane, with steep wooded slopes, narrow valleys and rocky summits around the inhabited pockets. The nearest substantial town is Spilimbergo, which provides services and is known for its mosaic school and painted historic centre. This area is known for its mountain villages, reservoirs and access to the Dolomiti Friulane.
