Nuxis lies in the inland Sulcis of south‑west Sardinia. Within about 15 km the ground is low hills and plateaus dominated by Mediterranean maquis and scrub, with areas of mixed woodland, olive groves, vineyards and pasture. Land use is chiefly agriculture and grazing, with scattered farmhouses and small villages served by provincial and secondary roads. The wider Sulcis‑Iglesiente mining district (abandoned mine works and industrial archaeology) is a feature of the province and traces of mining-related infrastructure occur in the region. Archaeological remains typical of inland Sardinia (nuraghi and small rural churches) are commonly found in the countryside. There are no ski facilities in Sardinia; major airport and ferry links (Cagliari area) lie well outside the local radius and are not part of the immediate surroundings.
