Within about 15 km are the lower slopes of the Lattari range and the edge of the Vesuvio area across the plain. The nearest coast is the Gulf of Naples side around Castellammare di Stabia. Pompei is nearby, with the UNESCO archaeological area. The area is known for intensive cultivation on the plain and for being part of the corridor between Naples, Pompeii and the northern approach to the Amalfi side.
