The area sits on the upper Lombard plain in the continuous built-up belt between Milan, Monza, Saronno and Como, with dense urban fabric, roads and rail lines as the dominant setting. The Groane Regional Park lies partly within and around Cesano Maderno, with heathland, pine woods and former sand and clay quarry landscapes.
