The area sits in the Brianza hills, with low wooded ridges and built-up villages alternating with fields and small valleys. Montevecchia and the Curone valley are within reach, with the Parco regionale di Montevecchia e della Valle del Curone covering a hill landscape of woods, terraces and rural hamlets. The nearest larger towns are Merate and Lecco; Lecco has full city services on the branch of Lake Como at the foot of the Prealps. Milan is the main employment and transport centre for the area.
