The cluster is in the Spoleto valley at the foot of the Umbrian Apennines, with Monte Luco directly above the town and the Monti Martani and Valnerina close by. The Tessino stream cuts through the town and the Nera valley is nearby to the east. The area is tied to the Monteluco landscape and to the approach to the Monti Sibillini and the Valnerina, which shape the immediate surroundings even where they are outside the town itself. Spoleto is the nearest town of size and has a substantial historic centre, the Rocca Albornoziana, the Roman theatre, the Ponte delle Torri and the cathedral. Spoleto is known for its historic hill town setting and for the Festival dei Due Mondi.
