The local economy is part of the Marche footwear/fashion manufacturing district. Nearby coastal towns include Porto Sant'Elpidio; inland towns include Fermo and the provincial capital Macerata, which has a university and the Sferisterio arena. The Apennines and the Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini lie inland to the west and are reachable by road but lie beyond the immediate coastal plain.
