The scroll-stopper here is the rustic stone shell: a chunky old house in a cobbled historic lane with mountain scenery peeking around the village. Mont Avic Natural Park lies just to the south above Champdepraz and Champorcher. The nearest ski lifts are in Champorcher, about 30 minutes by road, with larger lift systems farther west in the central Aosta Valley. Pont-Saint-Martin and Verrès are the nearest small service towns, and Aosta is the nearest larger town with the full range of shops, schools and administrative services. Donnas is known for its stretch of Roman road with arches and for terraced viticulture on the valley sides; the nearby Fort of Bard is a major historic site in the valley.
