This is the eastern edge of the Milan plain, in a built-up belt of housing, industry and roads between the Adda area and the outer metropolitan fringe. The Adda river is the main natural feature within reach, with the Parco Adda Nord along its banks around Trezzo sull'Adda and Cassano d'Adda. Trezzo sull'Adda has the Visconti castle remains and the bridge area over the Adda. The nearest large city is Milan, with the full services of a major regional capital. The area is known more for metropolitan commuting and productive plain landscapes than for a distinct rural or scenic setting.
