Bobbio

The cluster is in the Trebbia valley in the northern Apennines, with wooded ridges and rounded mountains within the 15 km radius. The Trebbia River runs through Bobbio, with river banks and pools around the valley floor. Bobbio sits inside the Trebbia valley landscape that is known in this part of Emilia for river gorges, swimming spots and road access into the Ligurian and Piacentine Apennines. The nearest larger town is Piacenza, which provides the main rail connections, hospitals and full services. Bobbio has a substantial historic centre and the Ponte Gobbo over the Trebbia; the town is known above all for the Abbey of San Colombano and its medieval fabric.
