Citerna (pg) Umbria – complesso rurale “le pietre”

Citerna is a hilltop medieval comune in the upper Tiber valley (Alta Val Tiberina). The Tiber (Tevere) runs through the valley within the 15 km radius. The locality sits on the lower slopes of the Apennine foothills; higher Apennine ridges are within the local 15 km landscape. Land use around Citerna is mixed agriculture: olive groves, small vineyards, arable fields and patches of oak/chestnut woodland. There is no national park or UNESCO landscape within 15 km. Nearest town of size is Città di Castello (the main local service centre) with shops and public services; Perugia (regional capital and the nearest commercial airport) is the larger city at regional distance. The area is on the border zone between Umbria, Tuscany and Marche and is locally known for olive oil and a concentration of medieval hill villages.
