The Monti Martani ridge and its wooded slopes lie within 15 km to the north and northeast of the town. There is no major lake or coastline inside the 15 km radius. No national park is centred on the town; nearby hills include wooded and cultivated slopes rather than protected high-mountain terrain. There are no ski lifts within 15 km (Apennine ski areas are farther away). The nearest town of size is Foligno (about 12–15 km), which has a railway station, hospitals and larger commercial services.
