Foligno sits on the Topino river in the Umbrian plain and is a road and rail junction on the Rome–Ancona corridor. Assisi (UNESCO World Heritage site for the Basilica of San Francesco) lies about 12–13 km north of Foligno and is within the 15 km radius.
