The cluster is in the Parma Apennines, with wooded ridges and narrow valleys at the edge of the higher Apennine belt. The Baganza valley runs through this area, and the Boschi di Carrega regional park lies nearby on the lower side toward Parma. Schia, the nearest local ski area on Monte Caio, is roughly an hour away by road. Parma is the nearest city of size, with a full set of services, rail connections and major historic monuments. This part of the province is known for porcini mushrooms and for castles and fortified villages scattered through the Apennine foothills.
