The area sits in the northern Marche hills close to the Montefeltro uplands, with the Apennine ridges rising inland. The Foglia valley is part of the local landscape, and the upper Marecchia and Conca valleys are nearby within this inland border zone between Marche and Romagna. Sasso Simone e Simoncello Regional Park lies nearby and is one of the main named landscape features of this part of Montefeltro. The nearest skiing is on Monte Carpegna, roughly half an hour by road, with larger lifts farther away on the central Apennines. Urbania and Urbino are the nearest towns of note for daily services and cultural weight, and Urbino has a UNESCO historic centre. This is Montefeltro country, known for wooded hills, pasture, old stone hill towns and the historical links to the Duchy of Urbino.
