The Aspromonte massif lies within the local 15 km radius and much of its lower slopes are part of the Parco Nazionale dell'Aspromonte. The Ionian Sea and the local Ionian coast lie to the east/south and the SS106 coastal road and the Jonica railway run along the shore. Small coastal towns on the Ionian coast such as Melito di Porto Salvo and Bovalino provide beaches, local shops and railway stops. The area is inside the traditional bergamot- and citrus-growing zone of the Ionian Riviera of Reggio Calabria and has extensive olive cultivation. Reggio di Calabria is the nearest large city with major hospital services, ferry crossings to Sicily and a small airport, but it lies beyond the immediate local area to the west. There are no major lakes within the 15 km radius.
