Piani di melia – s. roberto - gambarie

The cluster is on the Ionian side of Reggio Calabria province; the Ionian coast with its small towns and bathing beaches lies to the east. Within about 15 km the land drops to the coastal plain and rises into foothills that lead west toward the Aspromonte massif of the southern Apennines. Coastal towns on the Jonica railway and state roads supply shops, cafes and rail connections; larger services and hospitals are in the provincial capital, Reggio Calabria. Local land use is a mix of small-scale agriculture (olive and citrus cultivation) and scattered hill villages. There are no UNESCO inscriptions or nationally famous tourist sites immediately adjacent to the cluster.
