This is inland southeastern Sicily, in the Iblean plateau of low limestone hills with a mosaic of fields, olive groves and stone-walled countryside. The Dirillo river valley lies nearby to the west and the coast around Marina di Ragusa and Scoglitti is within short driving distance, but the cluster is not on the shore. Ragusa is the nearest town of size, with the historic districts of Ragusa Superiore and Ragusa Ibla and a full range of services; Vittoria is also close and functions as a market and service centre. The Val di Noto UNESCO baroque towns are present in the wider area through Ragusa, Modica and Scicli, with Ragusa the nearest of them. This part of the province is known for Hyblaean dry-stone landscapes, agriculture and the food traditions of the Ragusa area.
