San Gregorio Magno

The cluster is in the upper valley of the Tanagro at the eastern edge of the Monti Picentini and close to the Sele basin. The Monti Picentini are the main mountain landscape within reach, with forested ridges and interior valleys around places such as Buccino, Colliano and Oliveto Citra. The Sele and Tanagro river system shapes the wider area. The nearest town of size is Eboli on the plain to the west, with full services and rail links; Oliveto Citra and Buccino are the nearer small centres with normal historic cores. The area is known for inland Campania hill and mountain country and for olive groves, mixed farming and woodland.
