The cluster lies on the inland side of the Piana del Sele, with low hills and cultivated countryside at the foot of the Cilento uplands. The Sele river plain is the main landscape within reach. Paestum is the nearest major archaeological site and town of visitor importance, with the Greek temples on the plain near the coast. The Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni National Park begins to the south and east, but the core mountain scenery is not centered on this immediate 15 km area. The nearest city of size is Salerno, which provides the main rail, port and urban services for the wider area. This part of the area is known for mixed agriculture on the plain and hills, including olive groves and livestock country.
