Location score 82/100The cluster sits on the southeastern edge of the Chianti hills; the immediate landscape is a mosaic of vineyards, olive groves and wooded strips. Vineyards in the area produce Chianti wines and local olive oil (DOC/DOP production in the wider Chianti/Colli Senesi area). The Crete Senesi clay badlands begin within roughly 15 km to the south-west. Castellina in Chianti and several small Chianti hill-villages lie within a short drive and provide local shops, wine-tasting and village services. There are no named mountain ranges or ski lifts inside 15 km and no coast or large lake. The nearest city of size is Siena to the west (provincial capital, hospital and rail links; Siena’s historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The area is known for wine production, olive oil and medieval hill towns.
