Noto

The area is on the Hyblaean plateau, with low limestone hills, dry valleys and cultivated countryside. The Tellaro river valley is part of the local landscape, and the Ionian coast around the Vendicari stretch lies within this radius. The Vendicari nature reserve is nearby, with lagoons, dunes and coastal wetlands. Noto is the nearest town of size and has a large Baroque historic centre; Noto, together with the Val di Noto late-Baroque towns, is UNESCO listed. The area is known for Baroque townscapes, almond and olive cultivation, and in season for flowering displays in the historic centre.
