Baita in Claviere

The village sits in the Cottian Alps on the Italian–French border at the Montgenèvre (Monginevro) pass. It is part of the Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski area: lifts and pistes link Claviere with the French resort of Montgenèvre and with the wider Via Lattea network (including Sestriere and Sauze d'Oulx). Immediate surroundings consist of high‑Alpine mountain ridges, ski runs and lift infrastructure. Nearest service towns are Cesana Torinese a few kilometres away and Oulx (railway station on the Turin–Modane/Turin–Modane line) as the nearest town of size with broader services. The area is primarily known for winter sports and cross‑border skiing; nearby Sestriere was a venue in the 2006 Winter Olympics and the wider area retains Olympic‑era ski infrastructure.
