This is the lower Friulian plain between the Tagliamento and Stella river systems, with flat agricultural land, canals, drainage ditches and scattered villages. The nearest larger town is Latisana, which provides rail access, supermarkets and routine services; Udine is the main city for higher-level services. The Adriatic coast around Lignano Sabbiadoro is outside the immediate landscape and does not change the character of the area. The area is known for intensive farming and vineyard country across the Friuli plain.
