Villa a schiera in Verzegnis

The cluster sits in Carnia, in the Carnic Prealps at the edge of the Tagliamento valley. Lago di Verzegnis is within the commune, and the Tagliamento runs nearby below Tolmezzo. The area is close to the Friulian Dolomites and the Tolmezzo basin; Sella Chianzutan is the nearest small ski area, roughly half an hour by road, while the larger lifts around Forni di Sopra are farther. Tolmezzo is the nearest town of size, with shops, schools, hospital services and the main services for Carnia. Venzone, within the wider local area, is known for its rebuilt medieval centre and is listed among I Borghi più belli d'Italia. The area is known for alpine foothill villages, forestry, mountain pasture and Carnia's traditional stone-and-wood architecture.
