Monolocale in Corato

The cluster lies on the Alta Murgia plateau, a limestone upland of open fields, pasture and shallow karst depressions. Alta Murgia National Park reaches the area around Corato, with steppe grassland, scattered farms and dry-stone walls. Castel del Monte stands within this radius near Andria and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Adriatic coast is nearby around Trani and Bisceglie, but Corato itself is inland on the Murge. The nearest town of size is Andria, with a large historic centre and services, and Barletta and Trani are also close for daily needs. The area is known for olive groves, durum wheat and the Coratina olive variety.
