Casa indipendente, Colli a Volturno

The Mainarde, the southwestern sector of the Apennines on the Molise-Lazio-Abruzzo border, rise within this area. The Volturno river valley is the immediate landscape here, with low wooded slopes and cultivated valley floor around the villages between Colli a Volturno, Rocchetta a Volturno and Cerro al Volturno. The Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise begins nearby around Pizzone and the Mainarde, partly within about 15 km of the cluster. Rocchetta a Volturno has the abbey of San Vincenzo al Volturno, one of the main medieval monastic sites in inland southern Italy. The nearest town of size is Isernia, which has the normal range of services and a preserved historic centre. This area is known for mountain pastures, woodland and the upper Volturno valley villages.
