The cluster sits in the upper Sangro valley under the Mainarde and Abruzzo-Molise Apennines, with Monte Marrone and the Monti della Meta area close by. The Sangro river rises in this area near the border with Abruzzo. Much of the surrounding landscape falls within the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise or directly against its Molise edge. The nearest ski lifts are the small ski area of Roccaraso-Rivisondoli, roughly 35-45 minutes by road depending on the access point. The nearest town of some size is Castel di Sangro, which has the main services for the valley; Isernia is farther away and functions as the provincial centre. This part of Alto Molise is known for mountain pasture, transhumance routes and protected upland woodland and meadow landscapes.
